Horse Welfare
According to DEFRA all those who are responsible for a horse whether it is their own, or loaned, or even their childs' pony must adhere to the five freedoms stated in the Animal Welfare Act 2006
1. each horse or pony should have a suitable environment to live in
2. Each horse or pony should have a healthy diet
3. They should have appropriate company
4. They should be protected from pain, suffering, injury and disease
5. They should be able to behave normally.
If anyone is found in breach of these basic requirements, they could find themselves under investigation and may be charged.

Whatever the weather, conditions, day or time of year, if you are resposible for any horse or pony, it is your duty to give the the best of care and attention that they deserve day in, day out.
